Member Responsibilities

General:

  • Engage in AAUW decision-making through discussion and through feedback to the officers.
  • Suggest topics and speakers for the monthly programs.
  • Suggest improvements in procedures.
  • Become familiar and stay current with AAUW State and National platforms and goals.
  • Consider attending the state convention and/or serving as a local, state, or national leader of AAUW.

Monthly programs:

  • Attend and participate in monthly programs.
  • Serve once a year on the Social Committee for one of the program meetings.
  • Guided by the social chair, the committee will provide set-up refreshments and some décor. Will also provide clean-up afterwards.
  • If unable to serve as assigned, find a replacement and notify the Social Chair about the change being made.

Gift Basket Auction:

  • Make a themed gift basket to be auctioned, keeping in mind that the goal is to raise money for scholarships in an entertaining way. If unable to make a basket, then donate a monetary gift.
  • Attend the auction. Assist in raising funds: bid and encourage others to bid.
  • Invite guests to the Gift Basket Auction.
  • Donate door prizes and books, if you would like

New Member Recruitment:

  • Identify likely candidates, invite them to meetings, provide them with information about AAUW, and follow up as needed to encourage new members.
